Relâche at Woodmere Art Museum

  • Woodmere Art Museum 9201 Germantown Ave Philadelphia, PA 19118 (map)

Bob Butryn (clarinet and saxophone) and Ron Stabinsky (piano) of the Relâche Ensemble, present a concert of works by living composers as well as live improvisation to readings of Jerry Pinkney’s children’s books. The evening will feature Japanese composer Takashi Yoshimatsu’s jazz inspired Fuzzy Bird Sonata for alto saxophone and piano, and American composer Conor Brown’s new work, Early Winter Spires, for clarinet and piano. The musicians will bring to life Jerry Pinkney’s John Henry and I Want to Be through live improvisation, creating a new way to experience these Pinkney classics. Works by American composers Tina Davidson, Trevor Weston, and Guy Klucevsek will round out the program. This family friendly concert is a great introduction to new music and the performers will be available after the performance to meet with members of the audience.
